You are sitting in the hospital’s hall, knees bent touching your chest. Someone walks by and looks at you. You bury your head in your arms. Your heart should be pounding fast, but instead, you feel its rhythm slow down. A tear hangs from the tip of your nose. You dive deeper into your arms. Behind the wall where your back rests, she lies. With her eyes shut and lying in that bed, she, too, waits.
